Andrew Johnson was a racist !@#$% and he didn't like rich white people because he wasn't rich but he was all for the poor white people. He was basically a hater if that's the correct term to describe him. He stayed in the Senate to take over the presidency when Lincoln was assassinated.
Andrew Johnson was against secession. He believed in the Confederacy and was also against the Civil War. He was against plantations and the rich. Hh was against secession because he didn't like a small amount of people having all the power. He wasn't really for slaves though.
With the Assassination of Lincoln, the Presidency fell upon an old-fashioned southern Jacksonian Democrat of pronounced states' rights views. Although an honest and honorable man, Andrew Johnson was one of the most unfortunate of Presidents. Arrayed against him were the Radical Republicans in Congress, brilliantly led and ruthless in their tactics. Johnson was no match for them
Andrew Johnson saw himself as a southern unionist democrat. However he did not believe in the south secceeding. He declared himself a unionist. Johnson believed that seccession wasnt the way to go about getting his goals accomplished. He didnt want people to have alot of power. In his opinion secession wasnt possible.
Andrew Johnson was the Senator from Tennessee. He didn't agree with the South's secession because he didn't like rich white men to have all the power. A small minority of people had all the power and he believed it was un-American. In reality, he didn't think succession was possible at all.
Andrew Johnson didnt think the souths secession would ever come about. He didnt like rich white men at, and he didnt like African Americans either. he was very much for the poor white men. I think he stayed in the senate because he wanted to get his point across.
